I thought it might be deeper, but the birds seem to love it. Seems like water is about 2" deep. I have a solar fountain thing (about $20) that I put in the middle and works great. My other bird bath was too small for the solar sprinkler, and water was spraying out and then gone. This fountain is large enough it catches all the water.
We received the two well cushioned boxes as promised. Just heavy enough to stay put. Birds Love it!
