I’m going to write my review to include answers to all the questions I had before buying: My younger dog loves this and happily sings to it as his dinner is being served. My senior dog is in silent awe every time the bowl magically fills itself. I bought it for the older one as he’s gotten tubby and this seemed like a good way to not only control the portion size but also evenly space out his feedings. I like being able to manage things via an App from the comfort of wherever I am at the moment. After about 6 weeks I bought a second one as I wanted to see if it was worth it before I bought two. The App had a few quirks before I could link with the feeder but it still only took 10 mins total. I have both feeders linked to the App. I love that I can set multiple feeding times and portion sizes so that I can feed my dogs in intervals throughout the day. I can use a recorded message to call the dogs to eat or I can opt not to do this. Honestly the food clanging into the bowl is loud enough to give them the heads up. I can trigger an extra feed with a push of a button on my iPhone, iPad or iPod (Android compatible too). It sends a message when the food is getting low though I always miss it but I think I haven’t allowed notifications from the App which is my fault not the App’s. For my small dogs (Brussel Griffons, 7 to 10 lbs) the reservoir is large enough to hold about a week’s worth of quality no-filler food. I point out the type of food as no-filler needs less volume to get the same calories. My dogs need about 2/3 cup a day each of no-filler food versus about 2 cups each of food with fillers. I don’t want to mislead anyone but to be honest even if I had to fill it every 2 or 3 days it would be worth the investment for me. The kibble size needs to be no bigger than the size of a large cherry pit to easily come out of the feeder; you may be able to push it to the size of a cranberry but it could clog. The power cord is fairly long (maybe 6 feet) so there’s a bit of flexibility where you can put it especially if you use an extension cord to extend the range. There is also a battery back up in case of power failure. Batteries not included. Overall, these exceeded my expectations. It’s really nice not to have to worry about being late feeding the dogs. Oh and the portion control is working as my dog is noticeably losing weight.
